  • Difficulty – This dinner cooks in under 30 minutes and in one pan. It doesn’t require too many ingredients and is really easy to make.

Ingredients

  • Olive oil –  I used olive oil to cook the onions and ground beef.
  • Onion – This recipe uses a small white onions finely diced.
  • Garlic – Fresh minced garlic adds a nice flavour to the dish.
  • Ground beef – I used regular ground beef.
  • Flour – Regular all purpose flour is added to the ground beef to thicken the sauce.
  • Worcestershire sauce – Worcestershire sauce adds a touch of flavour to the stroganoff.
  • Beef broth – Beef broth is used to make the sauce.

NOTE, The full recipe and ingredient list can be found at the end of the post in the recipe card.

Ingredients to make ground beef stroganoff.
Ingredients to Make Easy Ground Beef Stroganoff

Instructions

  1. Cook the onion and garlic – In a large skillet set over medium heat, add the olive oil and diced onion. Stir well and cook until soft for about 5 minutes. Add the minced garlic and cook for a further minute until fragrant.
  2. Cook ground beef – Add the ground beef to the skillet and increase the heat to high. Cook down, breaking up the ground beef until it is fully cooked. This will take about 10 minutes.
  3. Make the sauce – Add the flour to the ground beef and give a really good stir. Add the Worcestershire sauce, beef broth and cream. Stir well and bring to a simmer. Reduce heat to low, cover and leave to cook for about 5 minutes.
  4. Garnish and serve – Season with salt and pepper to taste and give a final stir. Garnish with parsley if desired. Recommend serving with wide pasta noodles.

Recipe Tips

  • Dice onions small – I find it’s nice to have the onions incorporated into the beef, so to achieve this texture, dice the onions pretty small.
  • Drain fat off beef if it’s fatty – If your beef has a high fat content and you notice a lot of fat in the pan when it has cooked, drain if off before adding sauce ingredients.
  • Add noodles when serving – If you are serving this dish with noodles, add the noodles just before serving. And don’t store this dish with the noodles already added. The sauce will get completely absorbed in the noodles after it has been sitting for a while.

Substitutions and Additions

  • Ground beef – For a lighter dish, you could use ground chicken or ground turkey.
  • Heavy cream – Alternatively you could use sour cream or even Green yogurt.
  • Additions – Traditionally, mushrooms are added to this dish and they would make a nice addition if you like mushrooms.

What Are Sheet Pan Meals

Sheet Pan Meals are simply dinners that are all baked on one large tray in the oven. Generally there is some kind of chicken, fish or meat with vegetables. But you can pretty much add anything you would like to a sheet pan dinner.

Tips For Creating Your Own Custom Sheet Pan Meals

  • Cut evenly – Make sure to cut your vegetables evenly to ensure even cooking.
  • Think about cooking times – Different ingredients often cook at different times. Often you can add everything to the pan at the same time which makes it even easier. However, with some meals, you may need to add ingredients at different times.
  • Use parchment paper – You can use parchment paper in all sheet pan meals. This helps prevent sticking as well as easy clean up!
  • Rotate pan 1/2 way through cooking – I find it’s best to rotate the pan half way through cooking to ensure even cooking.
  • Spread ingredients evenly on the pan – Again, to ensure even cooking, try to make sure the ingredients don’t overlap and that they are nestled in nicely. This will allow even cooking.
  • Allow to rest after cooking – For best results with sheet pan meals, allow them to rest for about 5 minutes before serving.

  • Taste – If you love sausages and hearty meals, you’ll love this dinner idea! A complete meal of spiced Bratwurst sausages with soft roasted vegetables.
  • Serving – This recipe makes four generous servings.

Bratwurst Sheet Pan Dinner

Ingredients

  • Bratwurst sausages – I used about one pound of Bratwurst sausages for this dinner. Bratwurst sausages are quite fat German sausages. You should be able to find them in most grocery stores.
  • Potatoes – Any kind of a roasting potato will work well for this recipe. You can keep the skin on or feel them if you prefer.
  • Green Beans – Fresh green beans will work best for this recipe.
  • Red Onion – I liked the colour and flavour of the sharp red onion.
  • Olive oil – Just regular olive oil was drizzled over this dinner before baking.
  • Garlic powder – I decided to just go with garlic powder for a little extra flavour.
  • Salt – Regular table salt to add flavour.
  • Pepper – Fresh cracked black pepper adds a little punch of flavour.

NOTE, The full recipe and ingredient list can be found at the end of the post in the recipe card.

Ingredients to Make Bratwurst Sheet Pan Dinner

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven – Preheat oven to 400 degrees F/200 degrees C. Have ready a large baking tray.
  2. Arrange sausages and vegetables – Arrange the vegetables and sausages on the baking tray. Make sure to evenly spread them out.
  3. Season – Drizzle over olive oil and season with garlic powder, salt and black pepper. Stir it up well to make sure it’s evenly coated.
  4. Roast – Roast in the oven between 30 – 40 minutes until fully cooked. Remove from oven at about 20 minutes and shake the pan to loosen the vegetables and sausages. Return to oven to complete cooking.
  5. Serving – Remove from oven when fully cooked and garnish with fresh parsley if desired. Serve immediately.

Recipe Tips

  • Pan size and type – I used a large low rimmed baking sheet for this dinner. As you can see the food nestled in nicely. By not having space around the sausages or vegetables, the food will produce more pan juices.
  • Evenly cut vegetables – When cutting the vegetables, try to make them as close to the same size as possible. Uneven sized vegetables will cook differently and you may end up with overcooked or under cooked vegetables.

Substitutions

  • Bratwurst sausages – You can use any kind of large sausages for this recipe. If you prefer to use Italian sausages or any other pork or chicken sausages.
  • Potatoes – I really liked this recipe with potatoes, but you could use sweet potatoes or even pumpkin.
  • Vegetables – You could use asparagus or broccoli florets.

Soy Glazed Pork Tenderloin

Just recently I made a fantastic recipe for Glazed Soy Ginger Chicken Thighs. And I love a lot of recipes with those flavours, so it got things moving for this super tasty recipe. This is another pretty easy recipe that requires very little hands on time. It’s a wonderful weeknight dinner that you’ll love to make on repeat.

Soy Glazed Pork Tenderloin

What is This Pork Tenderloin Dish Like

  • Difficulty – This recipe isn’t difficult to make and isn’t overly time consuming. There are three parts though. The pork is seared on the stove, then finished in the oven. And the sauce is made in a separate saucepan.
  • Taste – This tenderloin is so tender and flavoursome. It has a brown crust from searing on the stove and a fantastic sauce made from soy sauce, honey and brown sugar.
  • Serving – As a main course, this pork dish, serves 4 people. These are not big servings. These are the type of servings that you would have alongside some rice and vegetables. You can adjust serving size in the recipe card at the end of the post.

Honey and Soy Glazed Pork Tenderloin

Ingredients

  • Pork tenderloin – I used a one pound (500 gram) pork tenderloin for this recipe.
  • Olive oil – Olive oil is used to sear the pork on the stovetop.
  • Salt – Regular table salt is used to season the pork.
  • Black pepper – Fresh ground black pepper works great for seasoning the pork.
  • Fresh garlic – I used a few fresh minced garlic cloves to rub over pork to add extra flavour.
  • Soy sauce – Any brand of soy sauce will work for this recipe. The soy sauce is used to make the sauce as well a small amount to pour over the pork before roasting in the oven.
  • Honey – Any kind of honey will work. I used liquid honey.
  • Brown sugar – Just a tablespoon of brown sugar is used to sweeten the sauce.
  • Cornstarch – Cornstarch is a thickening agent and is used to thicken the sauce.
  • Water – Water is added to the sauce as well as just one tablespoon to the cornstarch to make a paste to thicken the sauce.
  • Sesame seeds – I opted to garnish the dish with sesame seeds.

NOTE, The full recipe and ingredient list can be found at the end of the post in the recipe card.

Ingredients to Make the Soy Glazed Pork Tenderloin

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven – Preheat oven to 375 degrees F/190 degrees C. Have a rimmed baking pan ready and set aside.
  2. Season and sear the pork – Season both sides of the pork tenderloin with salt, pepper and rub over the minced garlic. Heat the olive oil in a large skillet set over high heat. Place the pork in the hot skillet and brown each side for about 2 minutes.
  3. Roast the pork – Remove from skillet and place on a large sheet of aluminium foil. Drizzle over the honey and two tablespoons of the soy sauce. Fold over the foil wrap and make sure it’s sealed. Place in the baking pan and cook in the oven for about 30 minutes. Remove from oven and set aside to rest for 5 minutes.
  4. Make the sauce – In a small saucepan set over medium heat, add the soy sauce, 1/2 cup/118 ml of the water and brown sugar. Bring to a boil and add the pan juices from the pork. Combine the cornstarch with the remaining tablespoon of water and stir to combine. Pour this into the sauce and whisk until it thickens. Remove from heat.
  5. Serve – Slice the pork into 1/4 inch slices. Serve topped with the sauce and sesame seeds.

Recipe Tips

  • Time saving – Make the sauce while the pork is cooking in the oven. Although you use the pan drippings from the pork to add to the sauce, you can do this after the sauce is made no problem at all.
  • Serve as soon as it’s cooked – This dish is best served fresh. Although you can cook the sauce before hand, cook the pork just before serving. It will have a tendency to dry out when reheated.

What is this Pork Dish Like

  • Difficulty – This recipe isn’t difficult to make and isn’t time consuming. However, I would say it’s a moderate difficulty. You want to get the sauce just right, so make sure not to boil it but also allow it time to thicken up!
  • Taste – The pork is really tender with a crust made from the flour. The sauce is absolutely delicious, rich and decadent!
  • Serving – As a main course, this pork dish, serves 4 people. In the recipe card at the end of the post you can easily adjust the serving size.

Pork Medallions in a Balsamic Honey Glaze

Ingredients

  • Pork medallions – Pork medallions are a centre cut of a pork tenderloin.
  • Flour – All purpose flour is used to coat the pork. It creates a crust on the pork and also thickens the sauce.
  • Seasonings – This recipe just uses black pepper and salt.
  • Olive oil – The pork medallions are cooked in olive oil.
  • The sauce – This sauce is made from balsamic vinegar, honey, chicken broth and a little butter.

NOTE, The full recipe and instructions can be found at the end of the post in the recipe card.

Instructions

  1. Make flour coating – In a large shallow dish, combine the flour, salt and pepper. Stir to combine.
  2. Coat the pork in the flour – Pat dry the pork medallions with paper towels. Add the pork medallions to the flour and coat both sides completely. Shake off any excess flour.
  3. Sear the pork – In a large skillet set over high heat, add the olive oil. Heat for about 2 minutes and then add the pork medallions. Cook for about 2 minutes and then flip them over. Cook for a further 2 minutes and remove the pork from the pan.
  4. Make the sauce Reduce heat to medium and add the balsamic vinegar, honey and chicken broth. Whisk to combine and bring to a simmer. Reduce heat to medium low, add the butter and leave to thicken for about 2 minutes.
  5. Add pork to the sauce – Add the pork medallions to the sauce, cover and cook for a further 5 minutes until the pork is cooked through.
  6. Serve – Remove from heat and serve with the sauce with your choice of side dishes.

Recipe Tips

  • Pat the pork dry – It’s important to pat the pork dry so the flour sticks when you coat the medallions.
  • Prep ahead – The pork can be coated in the flour seasoning up to 8 hours before cooking. The sauce can be made the day before and reheated.
  • Serve as soon as it’s cooked – This dish is best served fresh. Although you can cook the sauce before hand, cook the pork just before serving. It will have a tendency to dry out when reheated.

Make these Shaved Steak Sandwiches with Caramelized Onions for an amazing lunch or dinner. Tender pieces of shaved steak with sweet caramelized onions and melted Havarti cheese on top of crisp bread rolls!

Sandwiches make great meals and lunches. If you know How to Make Caramezlied Onions, these are the next sandwiches you’ll want to make.

Shaved Steak and Caramelized Onion Sandwiches

What Are These Steak Sandwiches Like

  • Difficulty – These sandwiches take a little time to make and put together. I would say they are medium difficulty. The steak and the caramelized onions can be made in advance to make them quick to put together before serving.
  • Taste – Amazing! If you love tender pieces of steak and caramelized onions, these are your sandwiches!
  • Serving – This recipe makes 4 good sized sandwiches. In the recipe card at the end of the post you can easily adjust serving size according to how many you would like to make.
Shaved steak sandwiches with onions.
Shaved Steak with Cheese and Onion Sandwiches

Ingredients

  • Steak – 2 thin strip loin steaks. The steaks I used were about 1 inch thick.
  • Seasonings – This recipe uses table salt and fresh cracked black pepper to season the steak.
  • Olive oil – Olive oil is used to pan fry the steak.
  • Caramelized Onions – Caramelized onions add an amazing flavour to the sandwiches.
  • Cheese slices – I used Harvarti cheese slices. Harvarti cheese has a mild flavour and it melts pretty quickly.
  • Butter – Unsalted butter is used to spread on the bread rolls before toasting it in a skillet.
  • Bread – I used Ciabatta rolls for these steak sandwiches. They are sturdy enough to hold all the fillings without the bread falling apart.

NOTE, The full recipe and instructions can be found at the end of the post in the recipe card.

Ingredients to make steak sandwiches.
Ingredients to make the steak sandwiches

Instructions

  1. Season and cook steak – Season the steak on both sides with salt and pepper. Heat a large skillet over high heat and add the olive oil. Add the steaks to the hot skillet and cook for about 2 minutes. Flip over and cook for a further 2 minutes. Remove from heat and allow to rest.
  2. Crisp bread – Cut open the bread rolls and butter the bread. In the skillet that you cooked the steak in set over medium heat, place all the bread slices in the pan, butter side down. Heat until the bread is crisp, about 3 minutes. Flip over all the bread rolls and get the outside of the bread crisp. Remove from skillet.
  3. Slice steak – Thinly slice the cooled steak, removing any fatty bits. Toss the steak together in a bowl with Worcestershire sauce.
  4. Assemble sandwiches – Lay out all the bread. On the bottom piece, place a slice of cheese. Top it with shaved steak and caramelized onions. Place the top piece of bread. Wrap in foil and place in a 350 degrees oven for about 10 minutes.
  5. Serve – Serve hot from the oven with your favourite dipping sauces or just as come out of the oven.

Recipe Tips

  • Cooking steak – See the post for Grilled Striploin with Black Peppercorn Sauce for all the tips on cooking steaks. The steaks for this recipe were cooked medium. Adjust cooking time according to how well done your like your steaks.
  • Caramelizing onions – This recipe used premade caramelized onions. See How to Caramelize Onions for all the handy tips.
  • Toasting the bread – For best results, use a heavy bottomed skillet. I used a cast iron pan with grill marks. Make sure to toast it until it’s completely crisp. Otherwise, you risk the sandwiches going soggy.
  • Prep ahead – You can make the steak and caramelize the onions the day before making these sandwiches. Just keep the ingredients in the fridge until you are ready to assemble.
  • Assemble before serving – These sandwiches can be assembled and wrapped in foil up to about one hour before heating and serving.

Caramelized Onion and Steak Sandwiches

Substitutions

  • Steak – I cooked steak fresh for these sandwiches. But you could easily use leftover steak like the Grilled Striploin with Black Peppercorn Sauce.
  • Bread rolls – I used Ciabatta bread rolls for this recipe. You can pretty much use any kind of heavy rustic bread for these sandwiches. Baguette bread would work really well. Alternatively, you could even serve these sandwiches in hamburger buns, hot dog buns or Hawaiian Rolls.
  • Cheese – I used Havarti cheese slices for these sandwiches. Alternatively, you could use mozzarella, Gouda, Cheddar, Edam, Swiss or any other sliced cheese that you like.

Notes

  1. Cooking steak – See the post for Grilled Striploin with Black Peppercorn Sauce for all the tips on cooking steaks. The steaks for this recipe were cooked medium. Adjust cooking time according to how well done your like your steaks.
  2. Caramelizing onions – This recipe used premade caramelized onions. See How to Caramelize Onions for all the handy tips.
  3. Toasting the bread – For best results, use a heavy bottomed skillet. I used a cast iron pan with grill marks. Make sure to toast it until it’s completely crisp. Otherwise, you risk the sandwiches going soggy.
  4. Prep ahead – You can make the steak and caramelize the onions the day before making these sandwiches. Just keep the ingredients in the fridge until you are ready to assemble.

Originally published on November 28th, 2015. Updated on April 28th, 2023 to include new photos, recipe tips, frequently asked questions and more relevant information.

What are These Tacos Like

  • Difficulty – These tacos are easy to make. You can marinade the steak ahead of time for extra flavour. Or you can just give them a quick 5 minute marinade as well. The mango salsa can also be made in advance.
  • Taste – If you love steak tacos, you need to add these to your dinner rotation soon. Warm tortillas filled with tender pieces of spiced steak and topped with fresh mango salsa. Delicious!
  • Serving – This recipe ideally will make 8 small tacos. If you are only serving the tacos, I would say this recipe will serve two adults.

Ingredients

  • Steak – I used sirloin steaks for this recipe and they were about 1 inch thick.
  • For the steak marinade – I combined sriracha sauce, salt and black pepper for the marinade.
  • Olive oil – Just a small amount of olive oil was used to cook the steaks.
  • Mango – I used one large ripe mango. It’s important that the mango is ripe.
  • Red onion – This is added to the mango salsa for tartness.
  • Salt – Enhances flavour in the salsa
  • Chili flakes – I used a small amount of chili flakes to add a little heat to the salsa.
  • Lime juice – Adds tartness and flavour to the salsa.
  • Fresh coriander/cilantro – Finishes off the salsa and adds freshness.
  • Small tortilla wraps – I used mini tortilla wraps for this recipe.
  • Sour cream – To serve, I added sour cream.

NOTE, The full recipe and instructions can be found at the end of the post in the recipe card.

Ingredients to make steak tacos

Instructions

  1. Marinade the steak – In a small bowl combine the sriracha sauce, salt and pepper. Lay the steaks out on a plate and coat them in the marinade. Be sure to coat the steaks completely. *You can cover and refrigerate until later at this stage.
  2. Make the mango salsa – Make the salsa by combining the diced mango, diced red onion, salt, chili flakes, lime juice and fresh coriander/cilantro. Stir well to combine and set aside.
  3. Heat the tortillas – Wrap the tortillas in aluminium and heat in the oven for about 10 minutes.
  4. Cook the steak – Heat a large cast iron skillet over high heat and add olive oil. Place the steak in the skillet and cook over high heat for about 2 minutes per side for a medium steak. Remove from heat and allow to rest for about 5 minutes. Thinly slice the steak.
  5. Assemble tacos – Serve the warm tortillas topped with slices of steak, mango salsa and sour cream.

Recipe tips

  • Marinade ahead steak – Although you can cook this steak as soon as you marinade it, marinading it for several hours will enhance the flavour. You can marinade up to eight hours before cooking.
  • Cooking the steak – I recommend cooking in a heavy bottomed skillet with grill marks (if you have one). Cook over very high heat to get a crust on the steak. Cook according to how well done you like your steak. This was cooked for 2 minutes per side.
  • Allow the steak to rest – It’s best to leave the steak on a cutting board for at least 5 minutes before slicing. This will keep the meat more tender.

Substitutions and Alternative Cooking Methods

  • Sirloin steak – You can use any kind of steak for this recipe. The sirloin steak is a great choice because it cooks quick and is pretty lean.
  • Tortilla wraps – I used small flour tortilla wraps. Corn tortillas will also work.
  • Sriracha sauce – You an use any kind of hot sauce. Some great alternatives are Frank’s Red Hot Sauce, Mexican-style hot sauce, Peri Peri sauce or even fresh chilies.
  • Heating tortillas – These can be warmed in a hot skillet for about 30 seconds per side.
  • Grilling the steak – Alternatively you can cook the steak on a hot bbq for about 2 – 3 minutes per side.

Delicious and tender Teriyaki Beef Meatballs. Your perfect weeknight dinner served alongside some Garlic Butter Drizzled Carrots and fluffy Basmati Rice.

Meatballs on a plate with rice.
Teriyaki Beef Meatballs

If you make one thing this week, make these meatballs! My son has now put these meatballs at the top of his list for favourite dinners! However, Chicken Stroganoff still holds the number one spot for him though. I don’t make meatballs often and usually I make Turkey Meatballs in Marinara as the whole family enjoy those. But after posting a recipe for Oven Baked Teriyaki Chicken Thighs just recently, I thought that sauce would go great with meatballs. I was right!

Meatballs Cooked in Teriyaki Sauce

What Are These Meatballs Like

  • Difficulty – These meatballs are easy to make but I’d rate the recipe as medium difficulty. they take a little time between making the sauce and putting together the meatballs. It’s also important to follow instructions carefully to achieve tender meatballs.
  • Taste – The flavour and texture of these meatballs are both amazing. They are sweet and salty, a browned exterior and so soft and melt in your mouth on the inside. These are very soft in texture and most likely will be fork tender and almost fall apart when touched.
  • Serving – This recipe serves four adults and goes fantastic with fluffy Basmati rice.

  • Soy sauce – I used dark soy sauce.
  • Brown sugar – Adds sweetness to the sauce.

  • Garlic – Minced garlic cloves.
  • Ginger – Fresh ginger root
  • Corn flour – Used to thicken the sauce.
  • Water – is used for making the sauce.

For the Meatballs

  • Ground beef – I used regular ground beef.
  • Bread crumbs – For these meatballs, I used panko meatballs.
  • Milk – Just regular or semi skimmed milk.
  • Onion – I used a white onion
  • Garlic – Fresh minced garlic
  • Chili flakes – Add a little heat and flavour.
  • Salt – Enhances flavour in the meatballs.
  • Black pepper – Adds a little seasoning and flavour.
  • Olive oil – Is used for cooking the meatballs.
  • Sesame seeds – I garnished the meatballs with sesame seeds.

REMEMBER, The full recipe and instructions can be found at the end of the post in the recipe card.

Ingredients to make teriyaki meatballs.
Ingredients to make Teriyaki Meatballs

Instructions

Make the Teriyaki Sauce

  1. Make cornflour mixture – In a small glass, combine the two tablespoons of cornflour with about 2-3 tablespoons of the water. Stir well to combine and set aside.
  2. Combine ingredients and make sauce – In a small saucepan set over medium heat, add the soy sauce, brown sugar, honey, garlic and ginger. Stir well and bring to a gentle simmer for about 2 minutes. Add all the water and bring to a boil. Pour in the cornflour mixture and stir until it thickens, about one minute. Turn off the heat and set aside.

Make the Meatballs

  1. Cook onions – In a small skillet, add one tablespoon of the olive oil and heat for about 30 seconds. Add the finely chopped onion, garlic and dried chili flakes. Stir around and cook until the onions are softened and golden, about 5 minutes. Remove from heat and leave to cool.
  2. Make bread crumb mixture – In a small bowl, combine the milk with the bread crumbs. Stir to combine and set aside.
  3. Make meatball mixture – In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, bread crumb mixture, cooked onions, salt and pepper. Mix well with your hands.
  4. Form meatballs – Using a small ice cream scoop or a tablespoon, mound out portions of the meat mixture. Gently but firmly form into round balls. Don’t overwork the meat or it will be dry. Repeat for all mixture and place on a plate.
  5. Brown meatballs – Heat remaining olive oil in a deep sided medium sized skillet. Add the meatballs and cook for about 2 minutes until browned. Flip over and cook other side for about 2 minutes. Remove all meatballs from skillet and drain on paper towels.
  6. Cook meatballs in sauce – Wipe the skillet clean of any remaining olive oil. Pour in the teriyaki sauce and set over low heat. Add the meatballs to the teriyaki sauce, cover and leave to finish cooking on low heat for about 12 – 15 minutes.
  7. Garnish and serve – When cooked, remove from heat and garnish with sesame seeds. Serve with fluffy Basmati rice for a complete meal.

Recipe Tips

  • Prep ahead sauce – You can make the teriyaki sauce in advance. In fact, it will store up to two weeks in an airtight container in the fridge.
  • Prep ahead meatballs – You can make the meatballs up to the day before and keep them in the fridge. Alternatively, you can make and freeze them from uncooked. You can freeze uncooked meatballs up to two months. Just be sure to allow them to fully defrost before cooking.
  • Double the sauce – If you want to serve sauce on the side for rice or noodles, I recommend you double the recipe. You can easily do that in the recipe card.
  • Don’t overwork the ground beef – The secret to getting a great meatball, is to not overwork the meat. Mix the ingredients until just combined. When forming into meatballs, do it gently and quickly. If you overwork the meat, they will be tough.
  • Finely dice the onions – You are looking to really finely dice the onions so they incorporate into the meatballs well.

  • Bread crumbs – I used panko bread crumbs. Any fine bread crumbs will work well.

Make these delicious Steak Salad Wraps! Tender pieces of steak mixed together with fresh crisp vegetables tossed in a vinaigrette and finished off with a lightly spiced sauce.

Salad wraps with lime wedges.
Spiced Steak Salad Wraps

If you’re a fan of wraps like the Mexican Chicken and Rice Wraps or Easy Beef Wraps, you’ll love these! I’ve had this recipe on my mind for quite some time now, and it didn’t disappoint in flavour at all. I used the same vinaigrette in my Garden Vegetable Salad in a Honey Lime Dressing that’s also a keeper.

Steak and salad wraps on a wooden board with limes and a dressing.
Steak Wraps

What are These Wraps Like

  • Difficulty – This recipe has three components and I would consider it a medium difficulty recipe because of the steak as well as assembly of all the ingredients.
  • Taste – These are amazing! The steak strips are tender, the vinaigrette is tangy and the sauce has a subtle kick of heat. A wonderful and delicious wrap that you and prep in advance and put together just before serving.
  • Serving – This recipe makes four large wraps. I feel that one wrap is good sized serving for an adult. These have to be served as soon as they are assembled.
Close up of a beef and vegetable wrap.
Beef and Vegetable Wrap

Ingredients

  • For the vinaigrette – I used lime juice, lime zest, honey, olive oil, garlic, cilantro and salt to put together the tangy vinaigrette.
  • Sauce – The sauce was made using mayonnaise, hot sauce (your choice), lime juice and lime zest.
  • Steak – This recipe used thin strip steaks.
  • Salt & pepper – Seasonings used for the steak.
  • Olive oil – I cooked the steak in a little olive oil.
  • For the salad – I used baby gem lettuce, red onions, green peppers and red peppers.
  • Wraps – I used large flour tortilla wraps.

REMEMBER, The full recipe and instructions can be found at the end of the post in the recipe card.

Ingredients to make Beef and Vegetable Wraps
Ingredients to make Steak Salad Wraps

Instructions

  1. Season and cook the steak – Season the steak on both sides with salt and pepper. Heat a heavy bottomed grill pan over high heat. Add the olive oil. Place the steak in the very hot pan and cook for about one minute. Flip the steak and cook for a further minute. Remove from pan and place on a plate or wooden board. Loosely cover in foil and leave to rest and cool.
  2. Make the vinaigrette – In a small bowl make the vinaigrette by combining the lime juice, lime zest, honey, olive oil, garlic, cilantro and salt. Whisk to combine and set aside.
  3. Make the sauce – In a small bowl make the sauce by combining the mayonnaise, hot sauce, lime juice and lime zest. Whisk to combine and set aside.
  4. Toss the salad – In a large bowl, combine the lettuce, peppers and onions. Pour over enough vinaigrette to coat the salad but don’t make it soggy. Lightly toss.
  5. Assemble the wraps – Lay out four large tortilla wraps. Evenly distribute the salad between the four wraps. Add the beef strips to the top and spoon over the sauce. Fold in the ends and tightly roll up the wraps. Cut in half and serve immediately.

Recipe Tips

  • Prep ahead – Although the cooking time for this recipe is only a few minutes, the recipe is time consuming because of the different components. Everything can be prepared in advance and then you can assemble the wraps just before serving.
  • Cooking the steak – It’s important to cook the steak at room temperature. Have it out of the fridge about 1/2 hour before cooking. This steak was about 1/2 inch thick. It cooked in 1 minute per side, super quick. Cook over very high heat in the heaviest pan that you have. Allow to rest before cutting to seal in juices.
  • Assembly – Place the salad in the middle in the lower two thirds of the wrap. Then place steak strips on top and spoon over sauce. Go easy on the sauce as you don’t want to make them soggy. Fold in the sides and then gently but firmly wrap them up.
Close up of beef and vegetable wraps.
Beef and Vegetable Wraps

Substitutions

  • Steak – I used a thin cut strip steak for this recipe. It worked great because it was inexpensive and it cooked super quick. You could easily use a different cut of steak if you prefer. Just keep in mind cooking time will vary. Alternatively you could use cooked chicken like the Oven Roasted Rotisserie Chicken or even Pork Tenderloin.
  • Lettuce – This recipe uses baby gem lettuce. You could easily use romaine lettuce or iceberg lettuce.
  • Peppers and onions – Both bell peppers and red onions were used in this recipe. You can use white or brown onions in place of the red onions. You could also add cucumber (deseeded), radishes or corn.

Spiced Steak Wraps

Serving

It crucial that you serve these wraps as soon as you assemble them. Because they contain both a vinaigrette and a sauce, they will go soggy and lose their crispness if left too long. They are great served just as they are. If you’d like a bigger meal, they would go well with the Mexican Style Rice.

  • Season the steak on both sides with salt and pepper.
  • In a small bowl make the vinaigrette by combining the lime juice, lime zest, honey, olive oil, garlic, cilantro and salt. Whisk to combine and set aside.
  • In a small bowl make the sauce by combining the mayonnaise, hot sauce, lime juice and lime zest. Whisk to combine and set aside.
  • In a large bowl, combine the lettuce, peppers and onions. Pour over enough vinaigrette to coat the salad but don't make it soggy. Lightly toss.
  • Lay out four large tortilla wraps. Evenly distribute the salad between the four wraps. Add the beef strips to the top and spoon over the sauce. Fold in the ends and tightly roll up the wraps. Cut in half and serve immediately.
